Mascara Farewell

Old and clumpy... clumpy and old.

Don't you hate when you have to throw out a mascara because it's old before you actually get to use the whole thing?  Now that I think about it, I don't think I have ever used an entire thing of mascara!!

Anyway, today was the day when I had to bid farewell to a few of my mascaras because their time had come.  I thought it was a good opportunity to make a review video of the ones I was throwing out but when I made the video, I didn't like it.  So to the blog it was!!

I'm going to start with my least favorite of the 3 which is wierd because I used this mascara all through high school and freshman year.

Firstly, I don't remember Great Lash ever having that wierd spiral wand tip when I used it in highschool.

Did they change it or am I going crazy?

I stopped using Great Lash for a while as I was trying different brands (see below for some of them.)  When I recently returned back to Great Lash, I realized that it smudges EVERYWHERE!!  You have to be very careful with this mascara or you will have a SERIOUS case of raccoon eyes in no time!!

Now, what I do like about Great Lash is that it is very black, very volumizing, and has enough lengthening to make me happy, but the smudge-factor is enough for me to not want to use it again.  How did I make that work in high school??

The next one is a mascara that I've heard so much hype about that I had to give it a try.

I can see why some people like Bad gal Lash.  They probably have very thick lashes to begin with or maybe they have an extra half an hour in the morning to apply multiple coats of mascara.  I'm not downing Bad gal Lash... in fact, I like it.  It lengthens and seperates beautifully but if you need extra volume, this mascara is not for you.  Unless you don't mind applying 2 or 3 coats and wiggling the heck out of the wand, because after all that effort, the result is gorgeous!!  Very false lashes-ish.  To me though, because of the effort and time it takes and the money it costs, I don't think I will be purchasing this mascara again.

The last one *tear* that I'm saying goodbye to today *tear* is my L'Oreal Double Extend with Lash Boosting primer *tear*.  See my previous post regarding this beauty.  I do however, have a bone to pick.  It is already clumpy and too thick to use!!  I bought this in early March and it's late April!!  What's up with that??

So where does that leave me?  I just purchased the Covergirl VolumeExact.

Watch my QOTW, Random Ramblings, and a CVS Haul video on my youtube channel, MissLoveAndLipgloss for details on how I got this on sale.

This mascara does exactly what its name implies.  It will give you a whole lot of volume, not a lot of length.  Con--smudge-y.  Interesting tidbit--according to one blog I read, it is gluten-free.  I didn't know cosmetics had gluten in them.  You learn something new every day!!

What's next?

Can't wait to get my hands on this set!!

Until next time, love you for reading, dolls!!  xoxo

$1.99... Are You Outta Yo' Mind???

Ok so I don't know if you're a member on hautelook.com but if you aren't, you need to be because they are having a sale on Urban Decay products right now!!  Like 75% off and stuff!!  I don't know if anything is $1.99 but when I was thinking of a title for this blog I remembered a song from a commercial that my Mom and I used to sing and it went like that.

Anyway, as of right now the sale is only for another 7 hours or so but they've had other great sales on cosmetics, you just have to watch out for them!

This is going to be a quick entry because I'm studying for finals but I just wanted to give you all the heads up!!

P.S.:  New videos on my youtube: MissLoveAndLipgloss.... CHECK THEM OUT!!

xoxo... Love you for reading!!

Goodies from Across the Pond

I recently received some goodies from my new swapping buddy, Heather from the UK.  I was really excited because I'm new to the makeup world so I have never sent or received these types of care packages, but apparently, that's something that the MU Community is big on.  And I love it!!

Anywho, Heather was super sweet and generous and we have decided on making our package sending a regular event :)

I'm in the process of trying to blog about this new OPI color I've come across but I can't get any good pics of it since I'm electronically handicapped, so I thought I'd share what Heather sent me in the mean time.

Everything she sent is available in the UK, but not in the US (for the best of my knowledge.)  She sent (From left to right):

Collection 2000 Pure Gloss in Cupcake
Collection 2000 Love Your Lips in Delight (my fav, the packaging is very Victoria's Secret-ish)
And The Winner Is Miss Sporty Hollywood Lipgloss in My A List
Boots Sheer Moisture Lipstick in Antique Lace (wore this to church today, very natural-looking)

An absolutely ADORABLE postcard!

FAMOUS Eye Shadow Matt in Shade 1
Boots Eye Shadow in Crushed Walnut (also wore this to church today, GORGEOUS!!)
Boots Eye Shadow in Midnight (smokey eye tutorial coming soon!!)

It's crazy because I like EVERYTHING she sent me.  It's like she looked at what I already wear and based her choices on that!!

I'm so glad I found Heather and if some of you want more information on swapping, I'm going to be blogging about how to get into swapping and how to do it safely and properly.

But right now I have a meeting that I have to be at so until next time, I love you for reading, you're fabulous, and xoxo!!

Super sadface

So right now I have the super sadface because everyone and their mother's cosmetics companies want to have some sort of promotion going on!!

AND I HAVE NO MONEY TO SPEND ON MAKEUP!!

Sephora wants to offer 15% off store/site-wide and e.l.f. is giving away brushes and mineral eye shadows and all types of fun stuff!!  :(

Anyway, I write that to say this: do you limit the amount you spend on makeup?  If so, what's your limit?  Do you set aside money for makeup?  I'm thinking about setting aside a certain amount just for times like these when there is some sort of sale on because it seems like when I have extra money to spend, everything is full price but as soon as I reach my spending max, a sale hits.  Again, sadface!!

If I Could Marry a Mascara...

So last night I went to the movies with my friend Rey and we went to the late-night showing.  When I got back I spent about an hour and a half-two hours gossiping with my roommate.  Needless to say, after all of that, I was quite sleepy so I committed MAKEUP SIN #1!!!!

I went to sleep without removing my makeup and washing my face.  I didn't even pass a face wipe over my face!!!

Now, before anyone gets their brush belt in a bunch, I very RARELY do this.  Even when I'm exhausted, I usually AT LEAST pass a face wipe over my face to remove my makeup.  But last night I was tired AND feeling lazy so.... it happened.

I say all of that to say this, I LOVE MY MASCARA!!

I've had an appreciation for my mascara since I've bought it about a month and a half ago.  It's the L'Oreal Lash Boosting set.  Here she is:

Ok so here's how she works.  I apply the serum (the one on the right) at night and the primer then mascara during the day.  The serum has made such a difference in my lashes.  They are longer and even little baby lashes have started growing.  Another thing I love about the serum is that I have the most sensitive eyes on the planet, but the serum has never aggravated them!!  The one con that I can name is that if you don't use the serum every night, the results start to fade fast so you have to keep up with it, but it's so worth it!!

Now on to the mascara.  You would think since the main appeal to this set is the lash boosting serum, that the mascara and primer side wouldn't be all that impressive.  Oh, but it is!!!  It lengthens and seperates!!!  And it's a beautiful black color!!  But the main reason I decide to blog about this mascara is because it doesn't smudge.  When I woke up this morning, the mascara was right where I left it last night on my eyes.  And even as I'm walking around on campus in the hot Florida sun, my mascara always looks like I just applied it!!

Now, this may be hard to believe since this is a drugstore set, but I like it much better than BadGal Lash by benefit and Diorshow (which is a contender but it flakes too much.)

So I'll end this love letter by saying that if you ever get a chance to try this wonder out, please do!!  I think you'll love it... I sure do!!

And I love YOU for reading!  xoxo dolls!!

Curtains to the Eyes of the Soul

So I have always loved the look of groomed thick eyebrows.

Everyone knows that the eyes are the windows to the soul, so are you going to dress your soul windows with just any old piece of anything?

NO!!

So here are some of my favorite celebrity eyebrows:

Don't you agree that thicker eyebrows that are well-groomed add more substance to the face?
I love you for reading, xoxo.

Make It Look Perrrdy

If you are reading this and are good with computers and making things on computers look perrrrdy, please let me know!!  Thanks a million!!

Maybe They'll Prefer Reading Me

So I finally made the jump and decided to get into the world of YouTube guru'ing.  I love makeup and I love watching Gurus so I thought I would give it a try and so far....

EPIC FAIL!! LOL :)

I've made 3 videos and have about 40 something channel views and all of 1 comment (made by my roommate!)

But I refuse to give up!!  I'm going to keep making videos and continue talking to my imaginary thousands of subscribers for as long as I can.

I like making videos.  I think that it has really tapped into some long lost creative part of me and it's like an outlet.

I know I have a lot of competition but I feel like if I get a good following, they'd LOVE me!!  LOL

But until then, I thought I'd give blogging a try, since you know, my imaginary thousands of subscribers get antsy in between videos so I thought this would be a good way to tide them over while I'm taping and editting my tutorials, hauls, reviews, etc.

If you want to stop by my YouTube and get in on all the MissLoveAndLipgloss greatness before everyone else finds out and I get all famous and then go all commercial and change on everyone, click here---->

Until next time dolls,
