Candles By Victoria

Hey lovelies,

I'm happy to say that I finally got to try out the famous Candles By Victoria after hearing so many positive things about the company.

I live in a dorm so I'm not allowed to burn candles in my room so I was pleased to find that CBV carries electric plug-in tart warmers in a few different beautiful designs for $16.95.

You can use the tart warmer to burn tarts, scent shots, and crumb melts in 600 different scents.

I chose to try the scent shots first which are sold for $1.95 for 2 ounces of product.

I LOVE THE SCENT SHOTS!!

First, the scent is nice and strong.  Not overwhelming but it definitely fills up the space with fragrance lusciousness!!  And the scent is always true to the description!!  And who wouldn't love the fact that there are so many scents to choose from??  No way could you EVER get bored!

The next thing I like is that the scent shots can be cut into fourths and I burn each fourth for about 7-8 hours before I start another fourth so the scent shots are a good deal in my book!

But my FAVORITE thing about my CBV experience was the customer service.  If you know me, you know that I believe in small businesses.  Like I've said before, small businesses are nothing but a dream and the guts to see that dream through.  That's why I love to support them.

CBV has been getting bigger by the minute but Victoria took the time out of her day to call me to fix a shipping issue I had.  Would you get that experience ordering from Yankee Candle?  I don't think so (no offense to them.)  Not only was that good business, but Victoria was such a genuinely sweet person.  The person you see in the YouTube videos is the person she is and I have so much respect for that.

The package was packed with so much thought and care and arrived quickly.

Overall, I have not one bad thing to say about my first CBV experience and I will DEFINITELY be ordering from them in the very near future.

I wanted to share a little bit of CBV goodness with ya'll and since Victoria was nice enough to send me some extras, I will be holding a giveaway right here to spread the CBV love.  I will be giving away 3 scent shots: Emperor's Love, Pumpkin Cheesecake, and Tangerine Mimosa.  All you have to do is follow this blog and be a subscriber to my YouTube channel, missloveandlipgloss.  Lastly, leave a comment on this blogpost telling me which scent reminds you of something from your past.  It can be any scent in the world, not just the giveaway scents.

This giveaway will end Thursday, August 12th, 2010 at 12 midnight and I will announce the winner on this blog shortly after the giveaway is over.  In the meantime, make sure you visit Victoria's site http://www.candlesbyvictoria.com/

Goodluck,dolls!!

Would you like to set an appointment??

Hey all,

Long time, no blog!  I haven't had anything that I'd rather blog than make a video about until now, hence the absence.  But today I called my local MAC store to see if they put the To The Beach collection out since I heard that some stores have started selling the collection early.

Sadly, my store will not start selling the collection until Friday.  And at that time, you would have had to make an appointment to be seen in order to purchase anything from To The Beach.  According to the girl on the phone, you have to get a consultation.  Interesting....

Anyway, I made an appointment for Friday at 5:15pm so I'll let you know how it goes!!

Mascara Farewell

Old and clumpy... clumpy and old.

Don't you hate when you have to throw out a mascara because it's old before you actually get to use the whole thing?  Now that I think about it, I don't think I have ever used an entire thing of mascara!!

Anyway, today was the day when I had to bid farewell to a few of my mascaras because their time had come.  I thought it was a good opportunity to make a review video of the ones I was throwing out but when I made the video, I didn't like it.  So to the blog it was!!

I'm going to start with my least favorite of the 3 which is wierd because I used this mascara all through high school and freshman year.

Firstly, I don't remember Great Lash ever having that wierd spiral wand tip when I used it in highschool.

Did they change it or am I going crazy?

I stopped using Great Lash for a while as I was trying different brands (see below for some of them.)  When I recently returned back to Great Lash, I realized that it smudges EVERYWHERE!!  You have to be very careful with this mascara or you will have a SERIOUS case of raccoon eyes in no time!!

Now, what I do like about Great Lash is that it is very black, very volumizing, and has enough lengthening to make me happy, but the smudge-factor is enough for me to not want to use it again.  How did I make that work in high school??

The next one is a mascara that I've heard so much hype about that I had to give it a try.

I can see why some people like Bad gal Lash.  They probably have very thick lashes to begin with or maybe they have an extra half an hour in the morning to apply multiple coats of mascara.  I'm not downing Bad gal Lash... in fact, I like it.  It lengthens and seperates beautifully but if you need extra volume, this mascara is not for you.  Unless you don't mind applying 2 or 3 coats and wiggling the heck out of the wand, because after all that effort, the result is gorgeous!!  Very false lashes-ish.  To me though, because of the effort and time it takes and the money it costs, I don't think I will be purchasing this mascara again.

The last one *tear* that I'm saying goodbye to today *tear* is my L'Oreal Double Extend with Lash Boosting primer *tear*.  See my previous post regarding this beauty.  I do however, have a bone to pick.  It is already clumpy and too thick to use!!  I bought this in early March and it's late April!!  What's up with that??

So where does that leave me?  I just purchased the Covergirl VolumeExact.

Watch my QOTW, Random Ramblings, and a CVS Haul video on my youtube channel, MissLoveAndLipgloss for details on how I got this on sale.

This mascara does exactly what its name implies.  It will give you a whole lot of volume, not a lot of length.  Con--smudge-y.  Interesting tidbit--according to one blog I read, it is gluten-free.  I didn't know cosmetics had gluten in them.  You learn something new every day!!

What's next?

Can't wait to get my hands on this set!!

Until next time, love you for reading, dolls!!  xoxo

$1.99... Are You Outta Yo' Mind???

Ok so I don't know if you're a member on hautelook.com but if you aren't, you need to be because they are having a sale on Urban Decay products right now!!  Like 75% off and stuff!!  I don't know if anything is $1.99 but when I was thinking of a title for this blog I remembered a song from a commercial that my Mom and I used to sing and it went like that.

Anyway, as of right now the sale is only for another 7 hours or so but they've had other great sales on cosmetics, you just have to watch out for them!

This is going to be a quick entry because I'm studying for finals but I just wanted to give you all the heads up!!

P.S.:  New videos on my youtube: MissLoveAndLipgloss.... CHECK THEM OUT!!

xoxo... Love you for reading!!

Goodies from Across the Pond

I recently received some goodies from my new swapping buddy, Heather from the UK.  I was really excited because I'm new to the makeup world so I have never sent or received these types of care packages, but apparently, that's something that the MU Community is big on.  And I love it!!

Anywho, Heather was super sweet and generous and we have decided on making our package sending a regular event :)

I'm in the process of trying to blog about this new OPI color I've come across but I can't get any good pics of it since I'm electronically handicapped, so I thought I'd share what Heather sent me in the mean time.

Everything she sent is available in the UK, but not in the US (for the best of my knowledge.)  She sent (From left to right):

Collection 2000 Pure Gloss in Cupcake
Collection 2000 Love Your Lips in Delight (my fav, the packaging is very Victoria's Secret-ish)
And The Winner Is Miss Sporty Hollywood Lipgloss in My A List
Boots Sheer Moisture Lipstick in Antique Lace (wore this to church today, very natural-looking)

An absolutely ADORABLE postcard!

FAMOUS Eye Shadow Matt in Shade 1
Boots Eye Shadow in Crushed Walnut (also wore this to church today, GORGEOUS!!)
Boots Eye Shadow in Midnight (smokey eye tutorial coming soon!!)

It's crazy because I like EVERYTHING she sent me.  It's like she looked at what I already wear and based her choices on that!!

I'm so glad I found Heather and if some of you want more information on swapping, I'm going to be blogging about how to get into swapping and how to do it safely and properly.

But right now I have a meeting that I have to be at so until next time, I love you for reading, you're fabulous, and xoxo!!

Super sadface

So right now I have the super sadface because everyone and their mother's cosmetics companies want to have some sort of promotion going on!!

AND I HAVE NO MONEY TO SPEND ON MAKEUP!!

Sephora wants to offer 15% off store/site-wide and e.l.f. is giving away brushes and mineral eye shadows and all types of fun stuff!!  :(

Anyway, I write that to say this: do you limit the amount you spend on makeup?  If so, what's your limit?  Do you set aside money for makeup?  I'm thinking about setting aside a certain amount just for times like these when there is some sort of sale on because it seems like when I have extra money to spend, everything is full price but as soon as I reach my spending max, a sale hits.  Again, sadface!!
